059-365v5 – Love

I really had very little idea what I was going to shoot for today’s Flickr 21 challenge’s theme of Love, but nature came to my rescue and Debbie came to nature’s rescue.

We suddenly heard a bang on one of our windows. Looking through the window we could see a small Chaffinch on its back with its legs waggling around. It was clear the poor little thing had flown head first into the window. Debbie popped out and picked up the bird to keep it warm as it (hopefully ) recovered – it was very chilly this morning with a freezing fog drifting over us. The bird kept slipping in an out of consciousness with it’s eyes closing and then slowly opening again. After about 10 minutes it seemed to be rallying so Debbie popped it down on the grass where it stayed for another 10 minutes. Debbie had decided it must still be struggling so prepared a box to pop the bird in and bring it indoors to continue its recuperation. On approaching the bird it got up and flew off, apparently fully recovered.

I liked the fact that Debbie’s hands form a small heart shaped cocoon to keep the bird safe, and there we have the solution to my picture requirement.

There are a few more pictures below.
