159-365v5 – Nature Watches Over Its Fallen

A similar shot to Friday’s image, but this time using the fisheye lens to achieve the bend in the trees to produce the effect of them bending over to create a shield. I was fortunate to find the sheep’s skull whilst I was looking for the right stand of trees…not

156-365v5 Just Inside The Border

I crossed the border into England today…but saw the light and stepped back across into Scotland for today’s photograph. This view is literally about 10 yards inside Scotland. I might try and make a series out of this, maybe taking shots just inside both countries.. maybe a set of tryptics

148-365v5 – The Outback

Jess and I took a stroll down an old track that we hadn’t been down before out on the Florida trail. The aim was to get a long exposure shot with streaking clouds running across the sky. Very unusually, the wind had dropped by the time we arrived and, whilst

147-365v5 – Liddle Water

Across the road from us is, what was a farm meadow that has been replanted with Silver Birch trees. We’ve been here 10 months now and I’ve never explored this area, despite it being just over the road. So, today I had a nosey around the area. I came across

141-365v5 – Harden Burn

This burn runs along the bottom of the garden, indeed, we own halfway across the burn and are entitled to use the water that flows or our own use (subject to a maximum limit). We use it to water the garden. It’s currently very low, following weeks of no rain…very

137-365v5 – Fallen

Jess and I did a long walk this morning – 8.5miles around a big circuit from Florida all the way up and around to Hewis Hill and then back along the B6357. Throughout the forestry areas there are many fallen trees, you can regularly see them down these access gaps

124-365v5 The Hay Rack

It doesn’t have quite the same beauty or emotional look as the Hay Wain by John Constable, but here’s a pleasant scene in Steele Road in the Scottish Borders.

118-365v5 – Cuckooflower (Cardamine pratensis)

I found this Cuckooflower, also commonly known as ‘Lady’s-smock’, on the roadside just down from the house. As the name suggests it flowers when the cuckoo’s start their song, and we have heard a cuckoo over the last week of so…we’ve not seen it as yet though!

94-365v5 – As The Mist Rolled In

We have had some lovely weather this last week and we’ve been hard at work in the garden. Unusually I got a morning off from the dog walk this morning and took the evening walk with Jess instead. Coming back down from the tops you could see in the distance
