I spent a couple of hours in Harlow this afternoon. I worked here for around 8 years and it wasn’t one of my favourite places…this is the first time back in some 6 or 7 years and it’s probably a bit worse now than it was then. It has something of an atmosphere about it…and not a particularly friendly one.

Anyhow, I went specifically for a couple of modernist churches (this is one of them) along with some Brutalist buildings. Harlow being a new town from the 1950’s has/had quite a number of brutalist buildings so it’s not a bad spot for me to move on with my ARPS project, more of which you can find on my “The Brutalist” site.

This is the Roman Catholic Our Lady of Fatima and St. Thomas More Parish Church, Designed by Gerard Goalen in1953-4 and built between 1958-60 and it’s Grade 2 Listed.
