We were one of the first 500 people who bought the Ford Puma after it was released in 1997. Do you remember the Steve McQueen advert? You can see it here – it was widely talked about at the time:

There are certain disadvantages to having such a new car – returning to the car on the Yorkshire coast we found a small group had converged on it to examine it and driving up the M1 into Leeds we were pulled over by the Police because they’d never seen one before and asked to look around it – which we were happy for them to do 😉

We had 3 of these including one of the last 2,000 made (the Thunder model) taking us full circle, so it was a sad day when we parted company with our last Puma after 10 years and 115,000 miles. The engine still ran perfectly and the car still went like the clappers – a £2,500 bill was approaching to get it through its MOT in December so it was time to say goodbye. Goodness knows why Ford decided to stop production.
