The Migrant Hawker Dragonfly, Aeshna mixta

We took a walk down the Flitch Way this afternoon, starting in Little Dunmow walking down to the edge of Great Dunmow and then completing a circle back to Little Dunmow. After being deluged by a short, sharp shower we came across this female Migarnt Hawker Dragonfly.

Dusk at Thaxted Church

I popped out to Thaxted again to capture the sunset…one day it won’t be so cloudy…anyhow, I took this photograph of the setting moon coming down over the Almshouses and graveyard – it looks straight out of a fairy tale.

The Doctors Pond, Dunmow At Night

I drove out to the supermarket last night and on the way I noticed the setting moon which looked fantastic, so I rushed home, got the camera out, dashed out only to find it had set. Not to worry, I wandered around Doctors Pond as it got dark and gave

St Mary’s Church, Great Dunmow

Along with the photograph of Doctors Pond taken at the crack of dawn on Sunday morning I also took this one of Great Dunmow’s Parish Church. I’ve photographed loads of Churches in Essex over the last 6 months or so, but strangely haven’t investigated my local church in Dunmow, so,

It looked like it would be a good sunset this evening so I jumped in the car and headed for Thaxted. I had no real idea what I was going to photograph, but knew that there was always the church or the windmill to fall back on. As I approached

A Lucky Accident in Chalkney Woods

We visited Chalkney Woods last weekend in the Colne Valley. I took the following picture without looking at the settings on my camera at all, it was in aperture priority mode so the picture was always going to be, at least viewable, but the shutter speed calculated was 3 seconds.

St Andrews Church, Willingale

Ordinarily I’d start a series of photographs of a church with a picture from the outside, but I couldn’t get the images I had to look as I wanted to yesterday. The main problem was the dreary sky – it was very grey! After some work today I think this
