I went super macro today and got silly close to a few things in the garden. I liked the colours in this abstract shot of the honeysuckle, I then worked my way around the garden, I particularly like the stinging nettles…I will revisit these before Debbie rips them out.
Dashing back from a meeting I revisited the old gatehouse just off the A120 as you enter Great Dunmow. This brick archway gatehouse (C17, remodelled in the C18, listed grade II) survives on the southern boundary of the Little Easton Manor site. It continues to deteriorate, despite its listed status.
Who remembers that blast from the past? (Eyeless in Gaza were a band in the 1980’s – I know nothing about them except their name!)
Back in the garden and we have lots of buzzing creatures busy pollinating the plants. Here’s a bumble bee on Lavender. I’m sure the honey is delicious!
From the “Who knew this would look any good” school of flower photography. I mean, who turns an image of a sunflower black and white really? I took an infra-red photo of a dandelion seed head some time ago which had a similar effect and I said at the time I’d do

The sunflower in the garden was getting jealous of all the attention the Echinacea was getting so has started to bloom. We have 2 growing in the garden this is the smallest of the 2 and was grown from a kit. The larger second Sunflower is just starting to bloom
Back in the garden for some more macro photography and I saw this honey bee on the Echinacea. I got a similar shot of a hoverfly on the Echinacea earlier in the year.
