Tuesday night is Bishops Stortford Camera Club night and we were due to complete a photowalk around Hatfield Heath. Unfortunately the rain arrived and the meeting was moved to the pub…but I still needed to get my daily photo. So I visited the area of the photowalk and caught this.
Popped out into the garden over lunchtime and came back with shots of a host of flys and bees. The cool weather has made them slow and languorous – so much easier to photograph 😉
Bit of a disaster today – had a nice jubilee themed photo worked out…but I couldn’t get one part of it to work…and I made a fearful mess in the process. I’ll have another go tomorrow. Midnight was approaching fast so I came up with another idea, which, on reflection
Well, OK, it’s not actually called Sunbeam Lane ;-). This is Cooks Lane in Little Bardfield from yesterday. A very pleasant area to walk around, especially if you like bugs and birds. We saw butterflys, damselflys, mayflys, herons, lots of finches and plenty of swallows.
Popped over to one of my favourite bug areas today over in Little Bardfield and saw plenty of Banded Demoiselles and Mayflies, along with a collection of beetles and this butterfly, a speckled wood.
As I drove back from work the rain started…fairly typical for the start of a bank holiday weekend. The rain stopped around sunset and I popped out into the garden to shoot these foxgloves that have recently started to bloom.
We had a night out at the bowling with work tonight – I took the camera along but it was so dark I was shooting at 800 and 1600 ISO all night…and my camera does not work well at 800 ISO, let alone 1600 so I came home with some

The Bishops Stortford Camera Club gathered at the Three Horse Shoes at Spellbrook for a bit of bring your camera manual self-help training. Despite spending most of the night chatting about all sorts of non-camera related things I still came away having learnt how to set the white balance on
After a large downpour this evening we were treated to a very pleasant sunset including great dollops of mist rolling down the surrounding hills.
