This is an abstract shot of an old film camera of mine I found in a draw a couple of weeks ago. It’s the Canon Sure Shot AF-7. It’s a point and shoot camera with auto focus and a 35mm f4.5 lens. That said you have no choice over what aperture or shutter speed the camera shoots at – it decides all that based on the amount of light it sees. It has a flash that it automatically deploys when necessary (you can tell it not to use the flash if you so desire.
I have absolutely no recollection of buying this camera or using it! There was an old film in it (part used) but I had to take that out to get the camera running again. Apart from a very annoying lag between depressing the shutter button and the camera actually taking the picture (which is completely variable and ranges from around a second to not firing at all until you re-depress the button (!!) it seems to be working fine.
I took it out this morning to finish off the film I’ve been shooting through it over the last month or so (a long expired roll of Fujicolour Superia X-tra 400). I now have a few films awaiting development – perhaps I’ll get them sent off next week!
