This is a photograph of this view (well a little to the right avoiding the gate) taken tonight just before the moon rose. I’m surprised by the amount of light pollution to the left hand side and there is a small amount of Aurora Borealis to the right hand side. The white light to the bottom centre is a car heading towards us. You can just about make out a small part of the milky way diagonal left down to the bottom centre of the shot.
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong as I’m sure I should be getting better shots than this. I’m sure the focus isn’t right, amongst other things. I may well try again tomorrow night, but I’d better get a decent shot in the bag before hand so I don’t have to post two disappointing shots on the bounce!
