075-365v5 – Waterfalls, again!

I can’t keep away. I set off again down our burn to see the waterfalls and cascades this afternoon. We’ve not had much rain recently and the burn is quite shallow at the moment. This was to lead to a moment of complacency from me that I would regret.

At the very first fall I came to I confidently strode into the water happy in the knowledge that the water wasn’t too dead. I stood on a sloping stone and, for the first time on stones around here, found it was very slippery. I started slipping down it, effectively, but slowly, doing the splits/ There wasn’t really much I could do about it other than to hope it wasn’t deep…it reached just above my knees, well over the height of my boots which filled up with very cold stream water.

I spent the next hour squelching my way up and down the burn!
