Flickr are 21 years old (yesterday actually) and they are doing 21 days of themed images. Today’s theme is “dots”. I’ve done lots of this type of image, especially during the Black and White Unite series of shots when I used steel ball bearings on patterned paper to create images. I have a crystal ball that I was gifted sometime ago, but I’ve never got round to using it, so I thought I’d have a go at making similar graphic images with this.

With some of the images I flagged off the lights I was using so you don’t get their reflection in the crystal ball, but actually, I prefer the images where the lights aren’t flagged out because it gives the ball a “face”. I also had an issue with getting the table flat where the ball was and it periodically rolled off the surface. I do have a stand for it and used that for some of the images which actually worked quite well too as it gave the “head” a “body”!

I finished off using some coloured backgrounds which, to my mind, produced a little bull!

Anyhow, here’s a selection of the images so you can make your own mind up. Which is your favourite?
