189-365v4 Silver Washed Fritillary

We went for a walf through the rather lovely Hockley Woods today. Just outside Southend, it’s always surprising where you can find Sites of Special Scientific Interest, which this is one of.

There were butterflies galore and I was rather kicking myself that I had left the macro lens in the car. I did have my Tamron 150-600mm lens with me and this does a great job of close up shots…so long as you are far enough away from your subject, which can be an issue sometimes! So this is the first time I have photographed a Silver Washed Fritillary (I’m pretty confident that’s what this is, but am happy to be corrected!)

We did visit this back on 1st April 2019 (using the same lens), however this was during one of my fallow periods on this blog, so I have included some shots from then, including a number of Jays we saw that day and a tree creeper
