This Alyssum Purple lives in one of our hanging baskets in the garden – the flowers are tiny but abundant and colourful.

So, yesterday I had a new bug (to me) to photograph, and today I have another one. Who knew there was such a thing as a “Tiger Crane Fly” (Nephrotoma flavescens)? Certainly not me, but here was one flapping around Dunmow this afternoon. He’s behind bars now like too many

as we tend to do, we had a good walk around Rowney Woods today. I had my macro lens with me so was trying to find any creepy crawlies that were around when I came across this which was quite a surprise – the picture below shows what I saw

Walking through West Wood just outside Thaxted this afternoon we saw plenty of Cuckoo Spit. Inside this, apparently, is a froghopper nymph.

I have no idea what this little bug is, but I love the fact that it fulfills all the cliches when you think about what a bug should look like.
