I was surprised to see this Scarecrow guarding the field this morning by the gate. He’s usually stationed in the field, as you’d probably expect!

You’ve heard of the ugly duckling, well the moorhen chick definitely competes well on these stakes!

The Moorhens around Doctors Pond have been doing very well this year…lots of Chicks. We didn’t have any Moorhens here until 4 or 5 years ago, we now have at least 2 well established families.

I only had my tiny Manfrotto table tripod with me so decided to go for that low to the ground look…which worked until, inexplicably, the camera changed its focus…but in the end I quite liked it anyway! I added a bird song soundtrack which I recorded a week earlier about

The fair comes to Dunmow a few times a year. It’s not a large fair but it’s always interesting to see it first thing in the morning with no one around.

Despite living close to Doctors Pond in Great Dunmow we very rarely see damselflies in the area…indeed, this is only the second time I have seen one in our garden after 18 years of living here.
Another time-lapse, this time of this afternoon’s clouds as they moved over Great Dunmow.

Some glorious weather around at the moment and the early morning walk is featuring a lot of blue sky. Here’s one of the Pill boxes on my route that is rapidly disappearing under all the summer growth.
