Some of you who know me, and indeed, who follow this blog, will know that I was made redundant from my previous job a couple of months ago – I announced it to the world with a photograph of the redundancy letter here. Well, this time some positive news –
Popped out between showers this evening to catch some of the bugs that were flitting around. This fly was having a paddle on a leaf.
I took a stroll around Dunmow this evening – down to the church and then back around the recreation ground, but it was my Doctors Pond photo from right at the beginning of the walk that immediately caught my eye…it will be interesting how the other, later shots come out.
This is the old Gatehouse that gave access to Easton Lodge, the home of the Duchess of Warwick and later the USAF during the second world war. Quite why it is being allowed to completely fall apart is anyones guess.
There’s been a second batch of ducklings appear in Dunmow over the last couple of weeks. This little fella was out on his own this evening stuffing his face on the bugs buzzing around the surface. I’ve no idea where the rest of the family was, but he was perfectly
A bit of product photography today – using some black velvet as a background and using some borrowed light stands and umbrellas with my strobes – 2 lights on this one left and right of the camera.
A second job interview found me mooching around the Suffolk coast again this afternoon. This is a shot taken on the edge of the River Stour in an area called Holbrook Bay. I was hoping to get some long exposure shots…but those clouds weren’t moving…at all!
The Bishops Stortford Camera Club visited the local micro-brewery at the Prince of Wales pub in Green Tye this evening for a very informative talk on brewing and, more importantly, some sampling of some very tasty beers.
Wandering around Dunmow this evening looking for a picture when I came across the local tennis courts. These are very well lit by these high floodlights positioned all around the court. No one was playing this evening…you can probably tell why from those clouds 😉
Had a day in London today with Brian from the Bishops Stortford Camera Club. We had got tickets to visit the abandoned tube station at Aldwych, originally called Strand, which has been closed for the last 20 years. The station is still used for emergency service training and for films
