036/365v5 – Waterfalls

Our new house has a burn (Scottish for stream) running through it and we own the part of it that flows through our garden. Tracing the burn on our Ordinance Survey (OS) map I could see that there was a waterfall marked further upstream so I had an explore with my camera and a tripod to see if I could photograph it.

It’s moderately difficult to reach because it is all rough and fairly flooded ground. At one point I sank 3/4 of the way up my wellington boot in some very soft ground. The burn flows through a reasonably steep sided valley which means you have to cross the burn periodically to get the easiest route without having to scale the steep valley sides.

Anyhow, I was delighted to discover a series of 3 small waterfalls and captured these images of them.

I discovered when I got back that, according to Google Maps there is supposed to be a couple of small ponds up here as well although these aren’t on the OS map, so I’ll have to go in search of these next time.

You can see all 3 photoraphs below.
