175-365v4 Sky Replacement Day

This mornings walk was accompanied by flat grey skies and a fairly steady drizzle. It was pretty miserable and the sky tends to be a pretty important part of any landscapes. I took a few shots as basically an insurance policy so I had something in the bank for the

173-365v4 Roadside Poppies

We always get poppies growing on the roadside on Bigods Lane. I wasn’t sure we would see them this year as the farmer has been cutting the grass verges regularly. Not only that, but one area where they usually grow had been turned into an emergency path during some flooding

The second (you can see the first here) shot from/of the High Street in Great Dunmow. I’ve taken occasional shots of the High Street over the years, but thought it might be a good side project to photograph all the shops etc along the High Street. It would be easy

160-365v4 -Just The Butchers

It’s nice that we still have 2 really good Butchers in Great Dunmow, this is one of them. When this was H. Stokes the butchery included the whole building including what is now Dunmow Blinds. With the reduction in trade caused by the supermarkets the butchers shop was reduced considerably.

155-365v4 Surrounding the Tree

One of the good things about doing a 365 photo a day project is the fact that you are encouraged to use all the gear you have piled up but don’t use that much. I’ve certainly suffered from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) and I have the additional failing that I

146-365v4 It’s That Tree Again

I broke out my infra-red converted Nikon D60 camera for the first time this year, depsite the fact that it was overcast first thing this morning. I’d decided I was going to use it last night and charged the battery up so wasn’t going to be put off by a

144-365v4 We had a little shower

Overnight we had a bit of a shower. When I got up and went for my walk I was greeted with lovely bright sunshine…but quite a lot of standing water. With a bit of careful positioning and a bit of artistic licence (OK – photoshop!) I got this (not thtat
