Today was supposed to be a snow day. It was due to start at 11am (it did) and continue until the evening (it did). What is didn’t do, in Great Dunmow at least, is settle to any degree, which rather buggered my photo plans for the day. Not only that, but my wife needed the computer and I ended up watching 3 games from the 4th round of the FA Cup.
I always find days like these rather a waste. I kind of enjoy slouching around on the settee watching the footie, but know that I’ll be hacked off with myself that I haven’t done something more constructive with the day.
Fortunately, I know I can be a lazy bugger so I took some shots of the garden wildlife from the kitchen window before the snow started…just in case. There was plenty going on. Ratty has had a stay of execution (well eviction anyway). We decided we wouldn’t trap him until the weather warmed up a bit so when we move him he won’t immediately freeze to death whilst looking for a new home. He spent the morning gathering dead bracken and moving it into his new den in one of the planters we have.
As always there was plenty of bird activity and, for today’s photograph I thought I’d share one of the starlings that regularly visit. Such a quarellsome bunch, but always entertaining.
