This one is from back in August and was taken at the Countess of Warwick’s Country Show in Little Easton. There was a chap there displaying his falconry skills and his birds of prey and this Harris Hawk was part of them. They originally come from the south western United

I was wondering what to photograph today and thought it might be fun to shoot some marbles with my macro lens. So out I popped to the local shop and came back with a small bag of marbles. They’re not as good as the ones I remember as a child…but

It was something of a surprise to find a broken egg shell on our walk today. I think the picture came out better than I expected – I hadn’t noticed the small red berry – and says so much about life and nature at the end of autumn.

This jolly family of fungus was photographed in Rowney Woods (where else) back in September. I’ve included a picture of the full family tree along with a picture of one of the single families 😉

Whilst walking to Turling we had seen a few road signs pointing to the ford, but warning that there was no vehicle access across it, fairly unusual as a ford, by its nature is supposed to be a shallow, crossable, part of a water course. Clearly, this one wasn’t, although

Turling is a very pleasant village boasting some fine Tudor buildings a lovely green and common and this fine church.

You may have gathered, if you follow this blog at all, that we visited Southwold last week. We were so lucky with the weather – mid October and comfortable in just a polo shirt. The sun really was glinting off the North Sea and this contrast really makes this black

We ventured out of Essex for the day and visited Southwold which is the most fabulous, quintessentially English, seaside resort. Southwold boasts a privately owned pier which has a selection of shops and curious exhibitions and displays many of which will feature on this blog over the next few days.
