A rather pretty sunset behind Doctors Pond in Great Dunmow that drew me out this evening
I’ve been wondering whether we would get any goslings on Doctors Pond this year, the ducks have produced, the moorhens have produced…and finally we have goslings!

I’ve taken this shot a few times and never really been happy with the result…here’s an infra-red version…still not happy!

Occasionally we get the odd Greylag Goose paying a visit to Doctors Pond and this chap was a fine specimen, strutting his stuff amongst the squabbling ducks and Canada Geese. Sad to report that we are down to 4 ducklings now from the original 7.

A very rude woman sat in a convertible car started shouting at me as I stopped to take this photograph…she was, apparently, watching a chap drag in a fish from the pond…something that happens about 40 times a day during the fishing season, What the silly woman didn’t realise was

It was all happening down at Doctors Pond this evening…with the first batch of ducklings having arrived not long ago. Whilst it took a while I can report that this youngster worked out how to get out of the pond and rejoin mother…after a few attempts of attempting to leap

I popped out to Doctors Pond this evening just as the sun was setting and photographed a small selection of the waterfowl that lives there.

I think this may well be a first for me – both sunrise and sunset from the same day. Great Dunmow’s Doctors Pond this morning was cold and frost – much of the pond was frozen over…to such an extent that the schoolboy with stick couldn’t break the ice…This evening’s
