Rowney Woods and Broadoaks Manor
Our walk today took us through Rowney Woods and out to Broadoaks Manor in Wimbish. This HDR photograph was taken the other side of the Manor as we followed the public footpaths back round to Rowney Woods.

This is Broadoaks Manor, a Tudor manor house surrounded by a moat. In the 1590’s the house sheltered a catholic priest, Father John Gerard, during Queen Elizabeth I’s persecution of the Catholic faith…which was fairly typical of the Tudor monarchs of the time. I took some shots of a Moth Orchid we have. I noticed this bud that didn’t look like the other 2 buds coming out of the flower, sure enough, it is a papery husk. Strangely more interesting than the living, healthy buds.
